Venu Vana, literally 'Bamboo Forest', is a historical park associated with Buddha..Venu Van holds a significant place in Buddhist history. It was here that King Bimbisara of Magadh built the first Buddhist monastery and presented it to Lord Buddha. This bamboo grove provided a serene atmosphere for meditation, where Buddha spent much time after attaining enlightenment.
Venu Van was not just a monastic retreat; it was also a place where important discourses and teachings were shared. Several famous sermons by Lord Buddha, including those found in the Vinaya Pitaka (the monastic code), are believed to have been delivered in this area. The site’s historical importance attracts pilgrims from across the world who seek to follow in the footsteps of Buddha.
